  • Date

    January 21 - 27

  • What

To All Undergraduate Students, Footnotes Needs YOU!

Do you have a penchant for writing essays and a passion for feminist theory? Do you want to voice your views about gender or sexuality in our society? Are you burning to critically examine intersections of race and ability with gender? Are you an undergraduate student? If you answered YES to any or all of these questions, Footnotes wants to hear from you!

Footnotes is the University of Guelph’s Undergraduate Feminist Journal and is currently seeking submissions for its seventh edition, which will be published in the Winter Semester. Footnotes is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their academic work. Essays, artwork, poetry, personal experience pieces and even comic strips dealing with topics such as feminism, race or queer theory, identity politics, class systems, marginalization, etc. are welcome, as well as discussion of other topics through these analytical lenses. Your essays do not need to be written for a Women’s Studies class – we welcome pieces from all disciplines!

Questions and/or submissions can be emailed to: [email protected] Papers can be up to 3000 words in length and should use Chicago style citations. Papers should not have been published previously or be up for publication in another journal. If your paper is accepted, you will be expected to be engaged and punctual with the editing process, and you will also be expected to write an abstract and a brief biography.

Deadline for submissions is Monday, January 27, 2014. Footnotes will be published at the end of the Winter Semester when we will be having our famed and fabulous launch party.

Looking forward to hearing from you all!
