  • What

"Community Class Works" is the title of our 30 minute documentary featurette showcasing alternative, community-based education and teaching models -- using Ajay Heblés’s Literature and Social Change class at the University of Guelph as a living, breathing example. The main purpose of the documentary is to give the audience a warts-and-all account of the Literature and Social Change students' attempts to create, plan and execute their own community-based intervention projects. The documentary will also feature several interviews and discussion with professors and educators at the University of Guelph, as well as former Literature and Social Change students that have planned and executed their own community projects in years past. Above all, we hope our documentary will spark discussion and debate over the local community’s place within an academic curriculum, or whether this type of teaching environment is practical or sustainable given the average university student’s course load and learning style.
