1) What is your opinion of the job that council's done over the past three years?

COUNCIL FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS HAS BEEN CONTROVERSIAL. WHATEVER DECISIONS WERE MADE HAD BOTH SUPPORT AND OPPOSITION. THIS COUNCIL DID RESOLVE OR MOVED ON RESOLVING SOME OUTSTANDING ISSUES THAT HAVE PERSISTED OVER PREVIOUS
COUNCILS. THIS COUNCIL MADE DECISIONS TO BENEFIT GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF GUELPH. AS A RESULT OF THESE DECISIONS, CONSEQUENT ISSUES HAVE ARISEN. THE NEW` COUNCIL MUST NOW ADDRESS THESE CONSEQUENCES TO BALANCE THE AGENDA.

2) Why did you decide to run (or run for re-election)?

I WAS ASKED BY THOSE WHO KNOW ME TO PARTICIPATE, EVEN BEFORE` THIS ELECTION. FOR ME THE TIME HAS COME BOTH IN TIME, INTEREST AND CAPABILITY TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND`MAINTENANCE OF GUELPH. THIS ELECTION IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPRESS GRATITUDE THROUGH ACTION.

3) The Guelph Civic League has highlighted four issues for the consideration of voting students. Please comment on the following:

a) What is your position on the proposed pipeline from Lake Erie to Guelph?

THE PIPELINE IS A DREAM FOR A FUTURE GUELPH AND COUNCIL TO CONSIDER. THERE IS ENOUGH WATER BENEATH GUELPH TO SERVE OUR PRESENT AND FUTURE NEEDS. THE CLOSEST PIPELINE WOULD BE TO ABERFOYLE WHERE A PRIVATE COMPANY IS PULLING OUT ENOUGH WATER TO FULFILL THE BOTTLED WATER NEEDS OF THE WHOLE CONTINENT, AT A PROFIT.

b) How will you address issues of development in the city and what is your plan for the continued growth of Guelph?

GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF GUELPH ARE DICTATED DIRECTLY BY THE PROVINCE AND INDIRECTLY BY FEDERAL IMMIGRATION POLICIES.
GROWTH NEEDS PLANNING OF BOTH PHYSICAL AND ECONOMIC INFRASTRUCTURES, TO BALANCE ENVIRONMENT, SOCIETY AND FAMILY.
GUELPH MUST BE LOOKED AT AS A WHOLE WITH VISION OF HOW MUCH WE ARE GOING TO GROW, WITHIN WHAT TIMEFRAME AND COSTS. I PLAN TO ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS TO SEEK THE RIGHT ANSWERS TO SET THE OBJECTIVES FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS TO PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE.

c) If you are elected to council do you intend to lend your support to the continuation of the student bus pass?

YES. WITH COSTS OF TUITION EVER INCREASING, CITY COUNCIL SHOULD ENCOURAGE USE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO REDUCE USE OF CARS. WE SHOULD ALSO BE WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF GUELPH IN DEVISING BUS ROUTES THAT WOULD INCREASE STUDENT RIDER-SHIP. BUS STOPS SHOULD BE STANDARDIZED TO PROVIDE REASONABLE SHELTERS, WITH SEATING AND WARMTH IN WINTER. WE MUST DEMONSTRATE TO OUR POPULATIONS SERVED BY PUBLIC TRANSIT THAT GUELPH IS COMMITTED TO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.

d) The GCL is concerned about the size and number of bike lanes on Guelph roads, will you push for greater bike access?

YES WITH DATA TO PROVE THAT THEY ARE BEING USED. ROADS REQUIRE STANDARDS, WHICH MAY INCLUDE BIKE LANES. IN MY OPINION, BIKE ROUTES NEED NOT NECESSARILY FOLLOW ROADS. SAFETY IS A BIG ISSUE WITH BIKES ROUTES THAT NEEDS CONSIDERATION THROUGH PROPER PLANNING. WE ALSO NEED TO ENCOURAGE USE OF BIKES. THE CITY MAY RECYCLE BIKES THAT HAVE BEEN DISCARDED. I HAVE SEEN SO MANY BIKES AT THE DUMP OVER THE YEARS MAKING ME WONDER WHY WE ARE NOT DOING MORE REPAIRS TO GIVE BIKES AWAY TO THOSE WHO NEED THEM.

4) Is there another issue(s) that you think voters should be aware of when considering their choices at the ballet box?

VOTERS MAY CONSIDER LEADERSHIP AS AN ISSUE TO LEAD INNOVATION, PROGRESS AND BALANCE.

5) What's you final message to U of G students?

PLEASE RESPECT THE ELECTORAL PROCESS AND HELP US BUILD A STRONG CITY THAT RESPECTS ITS CITIZENS, REGARDLESS OF WHO THEY ARE, WHERE THEY LIVE AND WHERE THEY COME FROM, TO WELCOME. WE KNOW THAT THE 24-HOUR CLOCK IS HERE. HOWEVER, A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP IS STILL ESSENTIAL BY BOTH STUDENTS AND NON-STUDENTS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE OF YOUR NEIGHBOURS, WHEREVER YOU LIVE.
