Spoken Word/Poetry Night and Dancing (fundraiser for Saturday Night: Untold Stories of Sexual Assault in Guelph)

Join us for the re-launch of Saturday Night: Untold Stories of Sexual Assault in Guelph, a publication compiling peoples' personal stories of sexual violence. We are celebrating the re-launch this amazing publication and raising money to print more copies with a fun night of spoken word and dancing at the Guelph Googenhiem Gallery space. We will be joined by d'bi young - an extremely talented, Toronto-based spoken word artist, and author and activist Farzana Doctor. As well, we will be having a number of incredibly talent local artists perform! Copies of Saturday Night: Untold Stories of Sexual Assault in Guelph will be available throughout the night.

Date: Saturday March 21, 2009
Location: Guelph Googenhiem Gallery, 128-B Woolwich Street (under Gordon Taylor Music)
Cost: $5-8 sliding scale, pay-what-you-can (all proceeds going towards a reprint of Saturday Night: Untold Stories of Sexual Assault in Guelph)

Schedule:
5-7 pm: Creative Resistance through Writing Workshop (facilitated by Farzana Doctor. Location TBA. Food provided)
7 pm: Doors open for the spoken word/poetry portion of the evening!
7:30 pm: Spoken word/Poetry, with d'bi young and Farzana Doctor and local artists, Feel free to bring your own stuff for the open mic!
10 pm-2am: You Make Me Feel Like Dancing! There will be a dj and lots of dancing, so come out and dance the night away!

People are welcome to come for whichever portions of the night they want to.

We regret to say the Guelph Googenhiem Gallery space is not accessible.
