The University of Guelph Chamber Singers has accepted an invitation from the Mosbach International Competition for Chamber Choirs to perform on April 27th, 2012 in Mosbach, Germany.
Only six choirs are invited; our University choir is the only North American choir participating. Twenty-six singers, and their conductor, Dr. Marta McCarthy, will represent University of Guelph in this competition by singing two twenty-five-minute programmes of highly challenging repertoire.
The choir was invited to send an audition CD, which the competition organizers reviewed and judged as "a marvelous choir sound". The organizers also said "Your choir will compete very well among the other choirs. We are very proud [to be] presenting a choir coming from so far to our public. The other choirs will all come from Europe." The judges are the world renowned conductors Frieder Bernius and Marcus Creed. Mosbach is an historic region approximately 80 km from Frankfurt.
