The Guelph Santa Claus Parade was once again a success that drew the Guelph community to the downtown area. Children and adults alike lined the streets to watch approximately two hours of sponsored floats, marching bands, and of course, Santa Claus himself. The day ran smoothly for everyone involved, and the weather was chilly but comfortable.
The title of best display overall was awarded to the Old Quebec Street Shoppes & DIYode Makers Club for their "Speedy the Snail". The top school entrant was Our Lady Of Lourdes highschool, and the in best club or service category, Ariss & Distrtict Lions Club emerged on top. Finally, the award for the best business float went to Nu Image snow removal.
The parade signifies the start of the holiday season, with only one month until Christmas. Vendors downtown are busy with holiday traffic now in full swing and increasing every day.
The city of Guelph is hosting many more events downtown over the month of December. To see a list of what is going on, please visit: http://downtownguelph.com/
