Arrest-Robbery- Last Tuesday, a Red Top Taxi driver was robbed at knife point on Silvercreek Pkwy S. Guelph Police has arrested David Johnston, 33 years of Palmerston Ont., for the robbery. He was arrested at a residence on Paisley Rd at 3:40 am on Thursday after police were called to a noise complaint. He is charged with Robbery, Weapons Dangerous, Obstruct Police and 2 counts of Fail to Appear.

Arrest – Last Wednesday at 10:30 pm, Guelph Police responded to a domestic dispute at an apartment on Dawson Rd. A 45-year-old Guelph male faces charges of Assault with a Weapon and Uttering Threats after a 44-year-old Guelph female was threatened a with a knife. She was not injured during the incident. During their investigation of this matter, Guelph Police located a Chihuahua dog that had been stolen from the Fergus Pet Shop on Speedvale Ave E. on two weeks ago. The male is additionally charged with Theft Under $5000, Possession of Stolen Property Under $50000 and Cruelty to Animals as is it alleged he threw the dog against a wall during the domestic dispute. The dog suffered minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

Arrest – Last Wednesday at 8:00 pm, Guelph Police observed a grey Pontiac Grand Prix in a parking lot on Speedvale Ave E. Two male occupants of the vehicle got out and the driver fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, he was located by police on Paul Ave. A 27-year-old Oshawa male will appear in court in May 2007 on the charge of Breach of Probation.

Break, Enter and Theft – Occurred between 12:45pm and 4:00 pm at a residence on Rhonda Rd last Wednesday. The front door was forced open and money and jewelry were taken. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Cst. Jeimy Karavelus.

Arrest – Motor Vehicle Collision-Fail to Remain-Impaired Driving- On Thursday at 9:50 pm, a motor vehicle collision occurred on Deli St involving two vehicles. One of the vehicles, a 1999 Chev blazer, fled the scene prior to police arrival. A short time later, a citizen reported an impaired driver in a Chev Blazer in the area of Willow Rd. Guelph Police attended the area and the vehicle was located and found to be the same vehicle that was involved in the earlier collision. Damage estimates to both vehicles are not available and no one was injured. A 47-year-old Guelph male will appear in court in May 2007 on charges of Fail to Remain, Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 Mgs.

Drug Arrest – On Thursday at 3:15 pm, Guelph Police officers observed two suspicious males in the downtown at St. Georges Square. A 19-year-old Guelph male was found to be in possession of a prohibited butterfly knife and was arrested for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. He will appear in court in May 2007. The second male was found to be in possession of one gram of marijuana. The 15-year-old Guelph youth will also appear in court in May 2007 on the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Breach of Probation.

Arrest -Care and Control – On Friday at 4:10 am, Guelph Police officers located a male sleeping in a vehicle in a 1996 GMC pick up truck on Clair Rd. A 26-year-old Elmira male will appear in court in May 2007 on the charge of Care and Control.

Arson-Arrest – On Friday at 11:08 pm, Guelph Fire and Police responded to a fire on the third floor of a hotel in the downtown. Several residents had to be rescued, taken to hospital and were treaded for smoke inhalation and second degree burns. All have been discharged. Firefighters had to destroy portions of the ceiling of the third floor level to extinguish the blaze and the tenants were relocated. Damage estimates are unavailable at this time. Police investigation has lead to the arrest of a 64-year-old Guelph male. Wayne HALLIBURTON will appear in bail court today on the charges of Arson and Mischief Endangering Life.

Suspicious Fire – On Saturday at 12:15 am, Guelph Police and Fire attended a vehicle fire on Dawson Rd. involving a 1984 Chevrolet Winnebago parked at the rear of a parking lot. The fire was extinguished but the vehicle, valued at $12,000, was completely destroyed. A 5th wheel trailer that was parked beside the motor home also sustained $2500 damage as a result of the fire. There were no injuries and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Cst. Scott Srigley.

Assault-Arrest- On Friday, Guelph Police were called to Our Lady of Lourdes High School on Westmount Rd to investigate an assault. Police became aware of the assault after a witness called police to say that a video of the assault had been posted on the Internet. A 16-year-old Guelph male will appear in court in May 2007 on the charge of assault after a 15-year-old Guelph male was repeatedly kicked and punched in the head at the school. The victim suffered minor injuries. The incident was recorded by another student using a cell phone and then posted on a web site.

Assault-Arrest- A 46-year-old Guelph male will appear in court in May 2007 on charges of Assault with a Weapon and Assault Causing Bodily Harm after an altercation on Saturday at a golf course on Victoria Rd S during the evening hours. Two males got into a verbal argument that escalated to a physical confrontation. The victim was struck by a patio chair and fell to the ground, breaking his finger.

Robbery – On Saturday at 7:45 am, a 44-year-old Guelph male was walking along a pathway between Willow Rd and Ridgewood Ave. He was approached by five males who punched and kicked him repeatedly and robbed him of his wallet. The suspects are described as being between 20 and 25 years of age, wearing baggy clothing. The victim did not seek medical attention but suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Drug Arrest- On Friday at 10:50 pm, Guelph Police responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot on Dunlop Dr. The vehicle, a 2002 Mazda Protégé was located and police investigation lead to the seizure of 29 grams of marijuana from the male driver. A 24-year-old Guelph male will appear in court in May 2007 on the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Disturbance-Arrest- On Friday at 8:45 pm, Guelph Police responded to a disturbance on Macdonell St. Witnesses told police that one of the males had a handgun in his waistband. The male was located and did not cooperate with police. During his arrest he was combative and a taser was deployed. William McBain, a 24-year-old Guelph male, will appear in bail court today on charges of Cause Disturbance by Fighting, Carry Concealed Weapon and Breach of Probation (2 counts).

Property Damage – On Sunday, Guelph Police investigated several complaints of property damage in the west end of the city. Several schools and businesses on Willow Rd, Silvercreek Pkwy and Speedvale Ave W. had windows smashed and graffiti spray painted on them. Also, several businesses located on Speedvale Ave E, Imperial Rd S and Elmira Rd also had their buildings spray painted. Damage estimates are not available at this time. The investigation into the damage is ongoing.

Impaired Driving- Arrest – On Saturday at 2:30 am, Guelph Police observed a 1998 Dodge pick up truck driving erratically on Wellington St W. Officers conducted a traffic stop and a 19-year-old Cambridge male will appear in court on May 2007 on charges of Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 Mgs.

Mischief Under $5000-Arrest – On Saturday at 2:50 am, a railway crossing sign was removed from York Rd near Morris St. A short time later, the sign was used to smash 15 windows at a business on Morris. One of the involved parties was apprehended by police after a brief foot chase. A 20-year-old Simcoe male will appear in court in May 2007 on the charge of Mischief Under $5000. Damage is estimated at $1000.

Break, Enter and Theft – Occurred in the afternoon of Friday at a residence on Dawn Ave. Entry was gained by forcing a rear window open. Cash and a yellow mountain bike were stolen. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Property Unit.

Theft from Vehicle- On Friday at 5:00 pm, a vehicle parked at the Hanlon Creek Park was broken into and a purse was stolen. A short time later, a male entered a store at Stone Road Mall and attempted to purchase a camcorder with a Visa card from the purse. The victim of the theft had already reported it as stolen and when store personnel tried to process the transaction, they were alerted. The male was questioned briefly but fled before police arrived. He is described as: male, white, 5’9’’ tall, medium build, 35-45 years of age, brown, shaggy hair, with a goatee, wearing blue cover-alls with paint on the front.

Arrest-Drugs/Impaired/Over 80 Mgs- On Saturday at 2:30pm, Guelph Police observed a suspicious vehicle in the downtown. The three male occupants were yelling out the windows of the vehicle. The officers conducted a traffic stop and the driver, a 19-year-old Guelph male, was arrested for Impaired Driving. He was further charged with Drive Over 80 Mgs and Possession of a Controlled Substance after a small quantity of Cocaine was found in his property subsequent to arrest. He will appear in court in May 2007.

Suspicious Person- On Monday at 5 pm, an 11-year-old Guelph male was walking in the area of Porter Drive. A male driving a dirty red pick up truck approached the youth and offered to drive him home. The youth refused the ride and went home to report the incident to his parents. The male is described as: white, in his mid 30’s, 5’6’’- 5’7’’, with light blonde hair, a light complexion and a light goatee. Guelph Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying this male. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cst. Mark McConnell.

Break, Enter and Theft – Occurred sometime during the day on Monday at a residence on Gordon St S. Entry was gained through the garage door. A Remington shotgun valued at $500 was stolen. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the Property Unit.

Break, Enter and Theft – Occurred on Monday at 1:00 pm at a residence on Summit Cr. The front door was forced open and a lap top computer, disks and earrings were stolen. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the Property Unit.

Indecent Act – On Tuesday at 5:30 pm, a 12-year-old Guelph female was at Exhibition Park. She was approached by two youths, a male and female while seated on the swings. The male pulled down his pants and showed the girl his buttocks. The victim went home and police were called. The male is described as: white, approximately 15 years of age, 5’4’’, medium build, brown curly hair wearing a black striped sweater. The female is described as: white, approximately 15 years of age, 5’3’’, slim build, wearing a green jacket. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Cst. Mike Tovell.

Arrest-Drive Over 80 Mgs- A 27-year-old Guelph male will appear in court in May 2007 on the charge of Driver Over 80 Mgs. after Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop on Wednesday at 3:40am on Waterloo Ave.
