All things a considered, it’s been a slow week for our friends in the Guelph Police Department. If you have any information regarding the anything you read here please call the Police at 519-824-1212 or call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Suspicious Person – On Thursday at 5:30 pm, an 11-year-old male was walking alone in the area of Waverley Dr. An unknown male driver drove up to the youth and asked the youth to accompany him. The youth fled on foot and the vehicle was last seen northbound on Victoria Rd at Brant Ave. The suspect is described as: male, white, 19-25 years of age, blonde ‘shaggy’ hair, chin length, wearing a thick red jacket. The vehicle is described as: a black Honda Civic, newer model 4 door with silver rims, black tinted windows and possibly a rear spoiler. Guelph Police are asking the public’s assistance in locating the male. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cst. Jason Hall.

Arrest – Guelph Police have arrested a 21-year-old male in connection with a break, enter and theft that occurred on January 6th at a residence on Greenwich Drive. A motor vehicle was stolen as a result of the break in and was subsequently recovered in Waterloo a week later after sustaining a significant amount of damage. Kyle Woodman of no fixed address appeared in bail court on Thursday.

Break, Enter and Theft – occurred sometime between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm on Wednesday at a residence on Kimberley Cres. The front door was forced open and some jewelry was taken. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call Cst. Matt Drenters.

Injured Child – On Sunday at 12:30 pm, a number of youths were playing hockey on an outdoor rink at St Georges Park located at Metcalfe St and Palmer St. A 10-year-old Guelph male was at one end of the rink and was struck in the head by a stray puck. The youth was treated at the scene by emergency personnel and transported to Guelph General Hospital. He was further transported by air ambulance to Sick Kid’s Hospital in Toronto. The boy passed away as the result of his injuries on Monday. Investigation is on going, however police do not believe there to be any foul play and believe this incident to be accidental in nature.

Break and Enter – Arrest - occurred on Saturday at 1:20 am as Police responded to an alarm at a car wash on Essex St. A male was found at the scene and subsequent police investigation lead to his arrest. Damage to the coin machine is estimated at $400. Allen EURIG a 46-year-old Guelph male is charged with Break Enter and Commit Theft, Mischief Under $5000 and Possession of Instruments for breaking into coin operated or currency exchange devices. He appeared in bail court on Monday.

Break, Enter and Theft – occurred sometime during the day on at a residence on Rhonda Rd. The front door of the residence was forced open and an X Box game system, 20 X Box games and 30 DVD movies were stolen. Approximate value of the theft is $2000 and the door is valued at $500. Property Damage – On Sunday at 12:30am, Guelph Police attended John McCrae School at 189 Water St. A rear glass door and window had been smashed with rocks. No theft. No damage estimate available at this time.

Drug Arrest – On Monday at 9:00 pm, members of the Guelph Police Service Drug and Intelligence Unit were assisted by the Tactical Unit in executing a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at a residence on Audrey Ave. The search led to the seizure of 44 grams of crack cocaine and 35 grams of marihuana. The street value of the drugs is estimated at $4750. $3500 in cash, weigh scales and packaging material was also seized. Eight Guelph males and five Guelph females were arrested in the residence and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (crack cocaine) and Possession of a Controlled Substance (crack cocaine), contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. One of the males was further charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking (Marihuana). One of the females and four of the males were on pre-trial releases on unrelated charges or on probation. As a result of this investigation they now face additional Criminal Code charges of Breach of Recognizance and Breach of Probation. All thirteen will appeared in bail court on. Danielle PHELAN (18 years), Amber PHELAN (26 years), Angela BONNETT (31 years), Shannon GODIN (32 years), Mary LEMIRE (29 years), Jason DO (18 years), Steven SHOEMAKER (19 years), Michael SMITH (21 years), Christopher WISNIEWSKI 21 years), Kristopher BRIDGES (23 years), Scott BARNARD (35 years), Larry CARLAW (46 years), Robert DOW (65 years).

Motor Vehicle Collision – occurred on Monday at 4:50pm at the intersection of Woodlawn Rd and Woolwich St. A silver Chrysler driven by a 46-year-old Guelph male, a grey Pontiac driven by a 29-year-old Guelph female and a green Toyota sport utility vehicle driven by a 16-year-old Rockwood male were eastbound on Woodlawn. The Toyota stopped for traffic and the Pontiac stopped behind it. The driver of the Chrysler ran into the back end of the Pontiac which then struck the Toyota from behind. Total damage is estimated at $10,000. A passenger in the Chrysler complained of a sore neck and was transported to the Guelph General Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Chrysler faces charges under the Highway Traffic Act.

Impaired Driver - On Monday at 7:45 pm, a motorist reported that she had been sideswiped by a black van on Woodlawn Rd. The van struck another vehicle and was located by Guelph Police at Woodlawn and Elmira Rd. Damage estimates are undetermined at this point. No injuries. A 33-year-old Guelph male will appear in court in April on charges of Drive Over 80 Mgs and Fail to Remain.

Impaired Driver – On Tuesday at 2:50 am, police observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Silvercreek Pkwy N. The vehicle had no headlights activated. The driver was stopped and police administered the roadside screening device. The driver registered a fail and was arrested and transported the police station. A 29-year-old Guelph male will appear in court in March on the charge of Drive Over 80 Mgs.

Break, Enter and Theft – occurred during the morning hours on Monday the at a construction site located at 50 Stone Rd. A construction trailer was entered and a wallet was stolen. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Cst. Chris Panylo.

Motor Vehicle Collision – On Wednesday at 5:00 am, a City of Guelph snow plow (dump truck style) was traveling southbound on Woolwich St. As the plow entered the intersection of Eramosa Rd the vehicle lost control, mounted the centre traffic island and struck the traffic light standard. The light standard was sheared off at the base and landed across the hood of the truck. The intersection was closed in all directions for several hours while emergency workers removed and replaced the light standard. There were no injuries as a result of the collision. Damage is estimated at approximately $13,000.

Break, Enter and Theft – occurred sometime overnight on Wednesday at a residence on Whitelaw Rd. The culprit(s) forced open the front door and made off with a number of items. A list of items taken is not available at this time. Anyone with any information is asked to co
