Name: Shireen Noble

Position: Academic & University Affairs Commissioner

Candidate Statement:

"I’m Shireen Noble, and I’m a third year BASc student. I’m running for the position of Academic and University Affairs Commissioner on your CSA.

Throughout my time at Guelph, I have been involved in a number of different ways. Some of my academic experience includes serving as the BASc Student Senator, sitting on the Information Technology Student Advisory Committee, the Council on Undergraduate Academic Advising, and as a representative on the CSAHS-SA reform advisory committee. I’ve also been actively involved with other aspects of the university through being a START Online Group Leader, Orientation Volunteer, Ambassador, and a facilitator for both Back on Track and Bounce Back. I’ve also been involved with Hall Council, Residence Life Staff, Undergraduate Research Team in Sexuality, Project Serve, and the Guelph Sexuality Conference, just to name a few.

The reason that I’m running for this position is that I have had an amazing experience here at Guelph, and I want to make sure that this is something available to all future students. The unfortunate financial situation means that there are still tough cuts that need to be made across the university. I am committed to making sure that YOUR voice is represented in these decisions. I want to continue the communication between the various academic bodies and intend to work collaboratively with all the elected CSA commissioners to make sure that we’re doing all that we can to serve the student population.

Most importantly, when we graduate I want to make sure that we’re proud of the University of Guelph and all that it has accomplished. So when you vote, make sure that you make the Noble choice and vote for Shireen."
