  • Elections Canda has received 800 complaints of fraudulent “Elections Canada” phone calls. These robocalls gave false information regarding voting locations to residents all over the country. On March 11, the people of Guelph united in a call against voter suppression TerryO’connor (Guelph District Labour Council): We can never trust another election if we don’t find out what happened in this past election. Drew Garvie (Central Student Association): Hi everybody, thanks so much for coming. We are the epicenter of this robocall thing. So it’s good that Guelph is really on the ball and speaking out. Not just for our riding, but it looks like these calls happened in 50 ridings across the country so we are not an isolated incident. We were just the first ones to get picked up on. Frank Valeriotte (Guelph MP): But the tactics that were used in the last election in election day were tactics that have been deployed as you know in the United States: neo-conservative republican style tactics. Drew Garvie: So we’ve seen the tory record on democracy and it’s not pretty and yet we are expected to believe that it was one rogue tory staffer in Guelph that orchestrated calls in 50 ridings across the country. Nora Chaloner (Council of Canadians): We don’t have to be ashamed of being Canadians as we go forward and try to change the system.

Elections Canda has received 800 complaints of fraudulent “Elections Canada” phone calls. These robocalls gave false information regarding voting locations to residents all over the country.

On March 11, the people of Guelph united in a call against voter suppression.

Terry O’connor (Guelph District Labour Council): We can never trust another election if we don’t find out what happened in this past election.

Frank Valeriote (Guelph Member of Parliament): But the tactics that were used in the last election in election day were tactics that have been deployed as you know in the United States: neo-conservative republican style tactics.
