Greenhouse adventure: the Bovey greenhouse and Phytotron

Sunday, February 24, 2008

I don't know about you, but the many greenhouses at the Guelph campus have always fascinated me. Lit up like little beacons at night, and filled with rows of plants, they are one of the characteristics that make up Guelph's inviting campus.

On February 7, the plant biology club organized a tour of the Bovey greenhouse and of Phytotron (located on the top floor of the new Science Complex).

Rodger Tschanz of the Bovey Greenhouse and Mike Mucci of Phytotron led a group of 8 or 10 of us around, describing the functions of the greenhouses and the different types of plants and experiments blossoming. Rodger invited us to return to the tropical section of the Bovey greenhouse to check out the plants, relax, study, or eat lunch - I'm sure the invitation extends to you as well.

Check out some photos from the tour here.

    Hi mel and Sarah,

Apologies! We here at thecannon.ca are working on it - we've been having issues with posting photo galleries for a while now. If I open the gallery using Windows Explorer (aka IE) the photos initially appear as little red boxes - but then, if I click on them, they appear in the slideshow. They don't work at all in Mozilla.

Does this work for either of you? I'll update the post when the gallery issue is resolved.
