Gonzalez is gone

Monday, August 27, 2007

Alberto Gonzalez, the US Attorney General has resigned from his post as head of the US Department of Justice. Gonzalez's time a Attorney General has been rocky to say the least. Gonzalez has over seen numerous scandals including the seemingly politically motivated firings of several US Attorneys, claims of perjury before Congress as well as the skirting of the Geneva Convention in regards to "enemy combatants."

Gonzalez's resignation is the latest in a long list of resignations from Bush's advisers. Two weeks ago Karl Rove joined the ranks Colin Powell, Paul Wolfowitz, John Ashcroft, Donald Rumsfeld and Richard Pearle. The main players from Bush's original team has been reduced to Condoleezza Rice and Dick Cheney.
