Female OUA & Gryphons Athlete of the Week:

Kris Yallin, a second year Commerce student from Port Colbourne had two great performances to lead the women's basketball team in two crucial victories to hold second place in their Division this past week. Overall she tallied 29 points, 17 rebounds and four steals on the week. The hot shooting guard was an impressive 55.6 per cent (5-for-9) from behind the arc. The Gryphons are tied for second in the OUA west with a 14-5 record and hit the court next this weekend in a doubleheader at home against the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday and Saturday evening at 6 p.m.

Gryphons Male Athlete of the Week:

Nick Pankerichan, a third-year General Arts student from Hamilton led the Gryphons men's basketball team in two inspired victories this past week. In a big 81-69 upset over the OUA west leading Windsor Lancers, Pankerichan led the Gryphons with 21 points shooting an efficient 5-for-9 from the field, 3-for-6 from behind the arc and 8-of-10 from the charity stripe. In their next victory over the Waterloo Warriors Pankerichan contributed 16 points in their 76-53 win. The Gryphons will look to continue their winning ways this weekend when they host the Lakehead Thunderwolves in a weekend doubleheader starting Friday night at 8 p.m.
